This taxon was known from only a few locatilities along the SW coast of Lake Sevan (Chernov 1939; Dal 1949; Darevsky 1953b, 1957a; Aghasyan et al. 2009a); today, it appears that only one population has survived and that in an area that is now seriously threatened by agriculture and urbanisation.
